What this site is
An independent guide to freelance work for nurses and nurse practitioners and the front door to paid precepting through the mentor network. Not a school, not a staffing agency; not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any university or certifying body.
Preceptors
You confirm the license, certification and practice history you give are accurate and current, and will say within five business days if any of them changes. You are an independent contractor. You will not allow a student to see patients without your supervision, and you will sign the midpoint and final evaluations honestly and on time.
Pay
Your rate is the one shown on your preferences page when you accept a card. A block pays that rate for every hour the program's log shows the student completed with you, in two deposits. A rotation that ends early pays for hours logged. A 1099-NEC is issued each January where the year's total is $600 or more. You are responsible for your own taxes and insurance.
What we will not do
Place a student with a preceptor whose credential the program does not accept. Report hours a log does not show. Guarantee a student by a given date.
Leaving
You may leave the roster at any time by telling your coordinator; rotations in progress should be completed or handed over with the program's agreement, and hours logged are paid.
Liability and law
We coordinate; we do not supervise clinical care and are not responsible for clinical decisions made by preceptors or students. Liability is limited to the fees paid or payable for the rotation in question, except where the law does not allow that limit. These terms are governed by the law of North Carolina.
